“Go” was an art historical journey focusing on artists who were inspired by motion and speed at the advent of the Industrial Revolution. The exhibit design utilized canted and angular walls to maintain the tempo of visitors. A bottleneck in the floorplan created opportunities for slowing and speeding, and custom system of six leaning walls implied speed.
One challenge in the exhibit was how to appropriately display a series of “Rotoreliefs” by the seminal artist Marcel Duchamp. We created a working prototype using vertically mounted record players that allowed these artworks to be displayed as never before.
Space Haus was the Exhibit Designer for this temporary installation in the Abbott Galleries. Our scope included: exhibit design and planning, coordination with staff and curators, construction documents, 3D fly throughs and multimedia coordination. We also developed custom solutions for museum case display, signage, seating and multimedia.
The exhibit was co-curated by Jill Bugajski and Kate Nesin.
