Space Haus acted as Exhibit Designer for Brazilian artist Hélio Oiticica’s monumental posthumous retrospective, “To Organize Delirium.” The sprawling collection of works included large interactive installations, hanging sculptures, multimedia pieces and flat works on paper.
The project was complicated because, for the first time at the Art Institute, this exhibit contained water, live birds and plants, leading to a complex installation. Throughout the process we interfaced closely with multiple departments from AIC as well as the estate of the artist, currently run by the Oiticica family. We produced construction documents, custom fabrications oversaw multimedia placement, created a 3D fly through of the exhibition, and sourced materials.
The exhibit was co-curated by Lekha Waitoller and AIC President and Eloise W. Martin Director James Rondeau.
